Bundle Information: Trackitdown Content Manager Olly Perris was recently dispatched off to the White Isle to report back on the biggest tunes from the various closing parties taking place over the last two weeks. Olly is back (with a tan that we're all mighty jealous of) and here is his definitive list of the 10 tracks which are closing the season in style: 1. Dubfire - Roadkill (Toolroom). Olly Says: "Sometimes you need to see a record in its natural habitat to really appreciate it. I have to admit, I was a bit sceptical of the hype surrounding Roadkill on its release but after witnessing Carl Cox dropping it at the Space closing night, it all just made sense. A terrific record which really does come instantly alive on a big rig." 2. The Freaks - The Creeps (Get On The Dancefloor) (NEWS). Olly Says: "It was frankly impossible to walk past any bar in the West End without hearing this at some point. That bassline has impregnated the brain of just about everyone this summer and rightly so, for it would be a crime if it didn't. A must-own record." 3. Yvan & Dan Daniel - Enjoy The Silence (Pinkstar). Olly Says: "Picture the scene. It's 2am, you're standing in the middle of a packed Eden dancefloor at Judgement Sundays, and Marco V comes on the decks. The anticipation is massive as he drops his first record, and then BAM, 3,000 people start singing (or shouting loudly, in my case) the words from Depeche Mode's ubiquitous 'Enjoy The Silence'. What followed was utter, sheer carnage. One of the best moments of Ibiza 2007 for me and for those in attendance that night. I can't get enough of this record at the moment!" 4. Robyn - With Every Heartbeat (Tong & Spoon Remix) (DEF). Olly Says: "I absolutely adore this track. Robyn's material is well known for being slightly out there, but she has struck a chord with everyone's soul with this tune. It pulls on your heart strings so much that it's impossible not to feel the emotion when listening to it. Pete Tong & Dave Spoon didn't need to do very much on the remix, and their effort is very simplistic, but beautifully so. Even my mum loves this, which is saying something." 5. John Askew - Chime (Discover). Olly Says: "I'm a trance nut at heart, and so when Eddie Halliwell dropped this as his first track at Amnesia for Cream, I couldn't help but absolutely lose it. One of the most banging efforts from John Askew but most certainly one of his best as well, and a record which perfectly encapsulates the energy of a Cream dancefloor at 4am." 6. Get Far - Shining Star (Tambour). Olly Says: "This will be well-known to our French customers in particular as it is currently in their Top 10 over there, but for those previously unacquainted with this vocal house gem, now is the time to check it. It has been lingering for a while on promo but now on full release, this track has the panache to do the damage both on the cooler and commercial floors." 7. D.O.N.S - Big Fun (Dave Spoon Remix). Olly Says: "Walking into Itaca for the Meganite pre-party, we were astounded to see the Lizard Man himself, Mauro Picotto, gracing the decks. This was one of his particular weapons of choice and by God, did this sound awesome on the system in there! A case of old-skool meeting new-skool in fine style and yet again, another superb effort from Dave Spoon." 8. Hazard - Busted (Playaz). Olly Says: "Personally for me, Marky played the best set I've ever witnessed at the Carl Cox / Space closing party. Playing to a packed 2nd room, Marky's brand of quick mixing and crazy scratching absolutely tore the roof off of the place, throwing in more D&B anthems than your brain could feasibly take. But when the infamous bassline from 'Busted' came in, it was absolutely game over on the dancefloor. I've barely ever seen a reaction like it. Huge!" 9. Tomcraft - Ready To Go (Kosmo). Olly Says: "Another record which was a big hit in the commercial West End bars, this also ripped up Eden when it was dropped by Judge Jules at his own Judgement Sundays closing party. It was quite funny hearing a mix of Europeans singing along!" 10. Above & Beyond - Alone Tonight (Anjunabeats). Olly Says: "It's a bit of an oldie this one, but I had to include this as it took the honour of being the first track at the Cream night to cause the infamous Amnesia Ice Cannons to erupt! I think even Above & Beyond themselves were nearly in tears, never mind the kids on the dancefloor absolutely lost within the trance. Definitely the biggest track of the Cream party." |
